Karup municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Viborg County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 163 km², and has a total population of 6,709 (2005). Its mayor is Kjeld Merstrand, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Karup.
Neighboring municipalities are Kjellerup to the southeast, Viborg to the northeast, Fjends to the north, Aulum-Haderup to the west, and Ikast to the south.
By January 1, 2007 Karup municipality will cease to exist, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged, with Bjerringbro, Fjends, Møldrup, Tjele, and Viborg municipalities to form an enlarged Viborg municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 1,390 km² and a total population of 88,945 (2005). The municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").

Farsund is a coastal municipality, bordering on Kvinesdal municipality in the north and Lyngdal in the north and east. In terms of square mileage it is one of the smallest municipalities in Vest-Agder county, yet one of the largest in number of inhabitants.
In 1965 Farsund was merged with the former municipalities of Lista, Herad and Spind.
Farsund has the largest agriculture area in Vest-Agder.
