20 November 2004, Miami
After spending almost a week in
Tampa
, it’s time for me to head south and fly to
Miami
. I did spend a wonderful time in
Tampa
, and made a great discovery: the Tampa Bay Brewing Company. This small family
operated brewery makes some wonderful beers such as: Red Eye Ale, Iron Rat Stout
and the One Night Stand Pale Ale.
But no beer for me today, at least, not
before reaching
Miami
.
I filed my flight plan in early evening.
My intention is to fly due south for a few miles and then cross
Florida
towards the
east
coast and then proceed towards
Miami
. Clouds are scattered and pressure is stable at 30.13.
After the pre-start checks are completed,
I start the engine at
21:11
and request take-off clearance from the tower. I did have a long taxi towards
the active this evening, runway 13.
My flight to
Miami
was a typical night time flight: you don’t see much! The sky was partially
covered and I had to cross some
severe turbulence over
Central Florida
. Traffic was quite heavy at arrival,
and I therefore suffered a significant drop in my “frame rates”. Result: A
quite hard landing with a few bounces… and of course a speeding ticket for
busting the taxi speed limit!
