when a word has a ü in it, how do you pronounce the letter?
for example Für
is it almost an I sound? or a ooom sound? or a u sound?
Thanks

The easiest way to look at it is to think that when you write ü in German if you don't have a keyboard with umlauts on it, then you write it as ue. If you now go one stage further and try to say it as "fuer", you'll get close to it. But it is definitely not a "oo" sound (so not foor).
This is very difficult to explain!
